Following championship seasons in volleyball and football, the ACA Eagles basketball teams will be in the hunt to make their mark in Appling Christian Athletics for the 2011-2012-season. The basketball program features four teams competing in the Georgia Christian Athletic Association. Coaching the junior varsity boys and girls’ teams is Joseph Brock. Hal Cox and Mike Vinson are the varsity boys and girls coaches for this season.
The varsity girls have a perfect 6-0 record in the early season. They are leading the GCAA Region One bracket with a 2-0 record. Leading scorers in the first six games include: Sophomore Victoria Cox (averaging 13 points per game), Senior Lindsey Johnson (averaging 10 points per game), and Senior Christian Beasley (averaging nine points per game).
The varsity boys are 4-2 overall and 0-2 in region play after the first month of the season. Leading scorers for the Eagles are Sophomore Bryce Livingston (averaging 11 points per game), Senior Brandon Cox, Junior Rex Cox and Junior Jordan Bland (each averaging nine points per game).
The JV girls are 6-0 overall and 2-0 in region play while the JV boys have recorded a 4-2 overall mark with a 0-2-region record. Leading scorers for the junior varsity teams include Lauren Beasley (averaging 11 points per game), Bethany Rivers (averaging 10 points per game), Cole Livingston (averaging 11 points per game), and Austin Carter (averaging nine points per game.
