The manager stated he appreciated the work and dedication of Cristin Floyd, the events coordinator of the Baxley Appling County Chamber of Commerce. Winter Wonderland would not be possible without the dedication and hard work from everyone involved. He commended all the city employees.
A Christmas party would be held for all the city employees on Dec. 23, and additional recognition would be given. The city supervisors in attendance were Larry Lewis, Baxley Wastewater Treatment Plant, Jimmy Music, Sewer Department, Dale Sapp, Water Department, David Gore, Street and Sanitation Department, James Godfrey, Chief of the Baxley Police Department and Trampis Carter the supervisor of the Baxley Fire Department.
City manager report
-The manager announced he received notice from the Georgia Department of Transportation that four city streets have been chosen for resurfacing. The streets are Dixie Drive, Foundry Street, Holton Street and Thomas Street.
-He announced great news concerning the airport and stated an advertisement for bids will be advertised in the newspaper. This major project will be an additional phase at the airport. The project will be funded through entitlement money. The project will consist of expanding the apron, constructing an access road and parking area and relocating the electrical vault.
-The manager reported that the deep well should be completed in about two weeks.
Mayor Steve Rigdon announced that when all the projects are complete, Baxley should have one of the best looking municipal airports around.
