Brenda R. Harvey is truly honored in serving as the newly elected Principal of Appling County Primary School. Mrs. Harvey has been serving as the Assistant Principal of Appling County Primary for six years this May. With over 24 years in education, Mrs. Harvey’s prior experience includes teaching kindergarten, first, second, fourth and fifth graders. She has been a life-long learner and likes to stay abreast of current trends and professional developments in education.
She is a graduate of Appling County High School. She received a Bachelor of Science in Middle grades Education (4-8) from Georgia Southern University. She later pursued an Educational Specialist Degree from Mercer University and completed an Early Childhood Degree (PreK-5). Several years later, she completed her second Educational Specialist degree from Nova Southeastern University in Educational Leadership (K-12).
During Mrs. Harvey’s current leadership, as Assistant Principal, Appling County Primary has made history on several occasions; being named a Georgia School of Excellence in 2007 and 2009, and being named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2008. Most recently, Appling County Primary was named an 11th year Title I Distinguished School and received the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement Bronze Award. She has a strong commitment to education, students and the instructional process of student achievement for all learners. She is a true believer that it takes staff members, students, parents, and community members all playing a vital role for the success of all students in the Appling County School System. She is devoted to the faculty and staff at Appling County Primary and to the parents and children of the community in which she serves.
Brenda is married to Marland E. Harvey. They have two children, Mallory Harvey, a student at Valdosta State University and Myers Harvey, a seventh grade student at Appling County Middle School. She is the daughter of James and Melba Rentz of Baxley. The faculty, staff and students of Appling County Primary School look forward to many more years of continued educational success under the leadership of Mrs. Harvey.
