Roy V. Green, Jr., 85, of Brunswick, died Dec. 5, 2011 at South East Georgia Health System in Brunswick. Roy was born in Glynn County to the late Roy Virgil Green, Sr. and the late Lucretia Taylor Green. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Green was employed by Brunswick Pulp and Paper for 43 years and was a member of the Marine Corp League and Masonic Lodge 214. He was a WWII veteran, PFC in the Marine Corp where he fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima and the Volcano Islands. He was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart. Roy loved his family and was an avid animal lover. His wife, Costello Steedley Green, preceded him in death.
Survivors include three daughters, Helen (Tony) Lockhart, of Brunswick, Linda (Archie) Campbell of Waycross and Linda (Andy) Hill of Brunswick; one son, Wayne Glover of Richmond Hill; one sister, Roberta (Owen) Louke of Lanexa, VA; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.
Visitation was held Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Edo Miller Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9 in the chapel of Edo Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Boyette and Bro. Ron Stinson officiating. Interment followed in Palmetto Cemetery in Brunswick with Military honors.
Active pallbearers were Billy Walker, Herbert Rogers, Wesley Prescott, Bob Anglin, Greg Lattany and Leconi Littles.
Honorary pallbearers were Marine Corp League.
Musical selections were rendered by Bob Howell.
