The Appling County Board of Commissioners held its monthly on Tuesday, November 15 at the Appling County Courthouse Annex. During the meeting information was shared about the need for benches and tables at Max Deen and Ernest J. Parker Parks. The cost of all the benches and tables needed is $12,547.00, not including freight. A motion was made by Commissioner Sarah Boatright to purchase the benches and tables using money out of contingency due to this not being a budgeted item, with a second by Commissioner Theodore Wilkerson. The motion was approved unanimously.

Information was shared on the Holiday Schedule and Christmas Bonus. After a brief discussion, a motion was made by Wilkerson, with a second by Commissioner Jasper Tomberlin, to give all part-time employees $50.00 and all full-time employees $100.00 for a total of $14,500.00 to be paid out of contingency. Also as a part of the motion is the county taking off the Monday and Tuesday after Christmas and taking off the Monday after New Year. The motion was approved unanimously.
Information was shared that the level of Lake Mayers has dropped over two foot to around the 205-foot level since beginning siphoning on Thursday, November 10. County Manager Lee Lewis stated that public access has been closed and that everyone is advised not to put any boats in the lake.
A motion was made by Wilkerson with a second by Commissioner Charlie Leggett to purchase new Christmas Banners for the 18 posts around the county for a total $900.00. The motion was approved unanimously.
