Clara Lee Vann, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011 at Appling Healthcare System after a long illness. Clara was born in Jeff Davis County on May 23, 1945 to the late Joseph Sr. and Clara Mae Jones. She was a member of New Jerusalem Witness Unto the Lord Church. Clara was preceded in death by two sisters, Joeann Jones and Louise Wilson and four brothers, Joe, Joseph, Ronnie and Jimmie Jones.
Survivors include her loving husband, James Vann, Sr.; four daughters, Gloria (Jimmy) Hill of Baxley, Betty (Virgil) Wallace of Graham, Cassia (Cornell) Cooper of Baxley and Elouise (Kariem) Conaway of Baxley; three sons, James Jr. (Betty) Vann of Baxley, Robert Earl Vann of Baxley and Lee Willis Vann of Graham; twelve grandchildren, Chris McMillian, Teddy Vann, Cynthia Ryals, Serria Wallace, Donovan Chatman, Ferninand Gibbs, Frances Wallace, Kevin Cooper, Chelsea Thompson, Maiya Conaway, Shareef Conaway, Jasmine Cooper and 12 great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Lizzie (Donnell) Smith of Jacksonville, Betty (Hosea) Hill of Graham, Clara D. Vann of Graham, Joanna (Jason) Warren of Ridgeville, S.C., Lottie (Billy) McMillian of Baxley, Diane (James) Jackson of Douglas and Alice (Bruce) Cox of Surrency; six brothers, Johnny (Juanita) Jones of Hazlehurst, Isaiah (Janette) Jones of Jacksonville, Mitchell (Kisha) Jones of Hazlehurst, Raymond Jones, Sammy Jones and James Jones, all of Graham. Also, numerous aunts, uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 at New Jerusalem Witness Unto the Lord in Baxley with Pastor Hurbert Mims presiding. Eulogy was given by Pastor Sarah Mims. Interment followed in Morgan Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Graham.
Active pallbearers were Keith Hill, Freddie Hill, Earl Jones, Jr., Brooks Jones, Sr., Tommy Beard and William Wilson.
Honorary pallbearers were family and friends.
Musical selections were rendered by The Anointed Mims Singers and The Angels of Echoes.
