Any person six months old or older should get vaccinated. Because it can take two weeks to develop full immunity after receiving the flu vaccine, Public Health officials urge residents to get vaccinated now.

Children six months to nine years old receiving the flu vaccine who did not receive flu vaccine last year will need a follow-up booster one month after receiving the first flu vaccine.
“Flu season usually lasts through the spring, with January through March being peak months,” said Roger Naylor, Southeast Health District Public Information Officer. “We are urging people of all ages to stop by the health department and get vaccinated. We have plenty of vaccine on hand. Protect yourself and your family by getting vaccinated now.”
