Sheriff Benny DeLoach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Oct. 21, answered a call to Williamson Lane in reference to a theft. The complainant stated he had found items in a subject’s vehicle and trailer that belonged to another individual. Investigation continues.
Oct. 21, answered a call to O’Quinn Road/Odum in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated unknown person entered his residence and took some camouflage clothes and a Marlin 22 semi-automatic rifle. Investigation continues.
Oct. 22, answered a call to Buck Williams Road in reference to an unruly juvenile. The complainant stated the juvenile would not do as he was told. The Juvenile Officer was to meet with the complainant and the juvenile at a later date.
Oct. 22, answered a call to Russell Road in reference to a theft. The complainant stated a subject took tires and rims that belonged to another subject that was in another state. The complainant was referred to the magistrate judge to secure a warrant.
Oct. 22, answered a call to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a child custody dispute. The complainant was advised to speak with her attorney in reference to child custody.
Oct. 22, answered a call to A P Hunter Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated unknown person took his tree climber, valued at $300.00, out of the woods.
Oct. 23, answered a call to Piney Bluff Road in reference to a theft. The complainant stated a subject spent the night in her home and had stolen several items of jewelry, valued at approximately $2,000.00. Megan Lassey Hersey, age 21, was arrested and charged with theft by taking.
Oct. 22, answered a call to Highway 203 in reference to a two-vehicle accident, with one of the vehicles pulling a trailer loaded with peanuts overturned. No injuries were reported.
Oct. 24, answered a call to Davis Landing Road in reference to a theft. The complainant stated she allowed two subjects in her residence and after they left she realized she was missing two X-Box controllers. Investigation continues.
Oct. 24, answered a call to Harry Street in reference to a domestic. Both subjects had a verbal dispute, which led to an altercation. The subjects were advised to speak with the magistrate about warrants.
Oct. 25, answered a call to Appling ER in reference to an accidental shooting. The subject recently bought a new pistol and when checking the safety the pistol discharged hitting the subject in the finger.
Oct. 25, answered a call to Lake Chapel Road in reference to threats. A complainant stated a subject came to her residence and made threats toward her. The complainant was referred to the magistrate judge to take a warrant.
Oct. 26, answered a call to Crosby Chapel Church Road in reference to a shot dog. The complainant stated he found his beagle dead in his yard with two gun shot wounds.
Oct. 26, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated unknown person(s) entered his residence and took $100.00 worth of gold coins and several guns. Investigation continues.
Oct. 26, answered a call to County Farm Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated taken from his residence werer four Alero tires and rims, three Enki tires and one Husqvarna chainsaw and the items taken were valued at $3,275.00. Investigation continues.
Oct. 26, answered a call to Veal Camp Road in reference to a possible vehicle theft. A complainant stated when she went to bed her vehicle was in the yard and when she woke up that morning the vehicle was gone. The complainant later called the sheriff’s office and stated the vehicle had been repossessed.
Oct. 27, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to harassment. Neighbors got into a dispute. The complainant stated the neighbor fired a shotgun in the air. The responding officer talked with the subjects involved in the dispute.
Oct. 27, answered a call to Unity Street in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated unknown subject(s) had broken into their residence and took jewelry, a cell phone and other items. Investigation continues.
Oct. 28, answered a call to Dunham Lane in reference to an unruly juvenile. The mother stated her son has been getting in trouble on the school bus and will not obey her. The juvenile was taken to the sheriff’s office and the juvenile justice worker was notified.
