The Appling County Pirates defeated the Vidalia Indians 19-0 on Friday, October 28. With the win the Pirates are now 9-0 overall and 6-0 in Region 2AA. The victory assures the Pirates a home playoff game and a chance at another perfect 10-0 season. The last perfect season was in 1999. The Pirates will travel to Pierce County for the final regular season game on Friday, November 4 to face the Bears who are 7-2, 6-0 with the winner becoming the region champion. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
Scoring recap
The Pirates were able to get the first score of the contest starting their drive at the Indian 40 after an interception by Byron Buxton. Later in the drive the Pirates would score on a nine-yard touchdown pass from Lashune Moore to Buxton to make the score, with the extra point by Israel Jaramillo, 7-0.
The Pirates next scoring drive would start at the Indian 48 and would end on a ten-yard touchdown run by Donnell McMillan to make the score 13-0.
The Pirates final score of the contest would be set up by a fumble recovery by CJ Nails. Later in the drive the Pirates would score on a 13-yard touchdown pass from Moore to Buxton to make the final score 19-0.
