City Manager Jeff Baxley made a recommendation for David Gore to be the Street/Sanitation Supervisor for the City of Baxley. Gore has been serving as interim supervisor since former supervisor Buddy Roberson retired. The manager reported that he received two applications for this position. The other applicant was Stevie Spell. Council members unanimously approved the manager’s recommendation.

The manager discussed lost revenues stating they are down a little over four percent from last year at this time.
He also reported that the Water Works City Park is almost finished. The sign is up and the carpet is being installed in the building this week.
The manager also requested input and suggestions from the city council for guidelines for using the park. An official opening of Water Works Park will be planned. He also announced that an Easter egg hunt is planned for the week before Easter at the park.
The city manager announced that he and Pro Tem Dr. Esco Hall, Jr. attended the Okefenokee Occasion on Feb. 2. He reported that it was a nice event and it was good seeing and hearing from our local delegates that attended.
The manager announced that he was informed that the city would have to come up with a wish list for the Regional Sales Tax for Transportation HB 277 (if it passes) by March 31. He also learned a requirement is to submit a list that covers 10 years from now.
