John Ellis Hardesty, 78, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011 in Appling Healthcare System. Mr. Hardesty was born March 19, 1933 in Volusia, FL to the late John and Ruth Clark Hardesty. He was a member of First Assembly of God. Mr. Hardesty served five years and six months in the United States Air Force. He was retired from Georgia Power.
Survivors include his wife, Trinney Hardesty of Baxley; four sons, Rusty Herrington of Atlanta, Jamie Dyal, Lee Dyal and Nathan Dyal, all of Baxley; two daughters-in-law, Carrie Dyal and Marcia Dyal, both of Baxley; eight grandchildren, Cayla Nicole Dyal, Cameron Dyal, Corey Dyal, Jeremy Dyal, Jordon Dyal, Caleb Dyal, Cameron Herrington and Rob Herrington, all of Baxley and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18 in the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Rentz officiating. Interment followed at 3:30 p.m. in Cedar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Abbeville.
Active pallbearers were Cameron Dyal, Caleb Dyal, Corey Dyal, Jordon Dyal, Ethan Edwards, Zack Williams and Brennan Bullard.
Honorary pallbearers were members of First Assembly of God.
Musical selections were rendered by James Herrin, Bonita Anderson and Teressa Edwards.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
