Sheriff Benny DeLoach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
October 8, answered a call to Highway 121 South in reference to a theft. A complainant stated when his renters moved from his trailer they took his refrigerator.
Oct. 8, answered a call to Buckhead Road in reference to a dispute, which resulted in the arrest of Christopher Eugene Copeland, age 24, of Baxley. Copeland was charged with disorderly conduct.
Oct. 8, answered a call to Miller Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A complainant stated he and his mother-in-law had a verbal dispute and she threw a cup of coffee in his face. The complainant was advised he could possibly press charges.
Oct. 8, answered a call to Satilla Church Road in reference to an alleged rape. A complainant stated he found a male juvenile in his residence with his daughter. The Juvenile Justice Officer was notified and the case was turned over to him.
Oct. 9, answered a call to Highway144 in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated unknown subject had come into their residence and took a shower.
Oct. 10, answered a call to Zoar Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A complainant stated her husband shoved her to the floor and took the phone from her. The complainant was advised to see the magistrate office if she wanted to press charges.
Oct.11 answered a call to Golden Isles West in reference to a theft. A complainant stated stolen from his business was a Lincoln, Ranger 8 welder valued at approximately $2,000.00. Investigation revealed the whereabouts of welder and was returned to the owner. Robert Alton Wheeler, age 40, was arrested and charged with theft by taking. Warrants have been taken for Ramel Copeland and Josh Chesnut for theft by receiving stolen property.
Oct. 11, answered a call to James Stanfield Road of Surrency in reference to a domestic dispute. The complainant stated a subject threatened him with a knife, and left the residence before officer arrived.
Oct. 11, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to an attempted burglary. A Complainant stated an intruder tried to pry open the back door, but failed when the alarm system sounded and left the scene. The camera’s showed no one entering the residence.
Oct. 13, answered a call to Firetower Road in reference to criminal trespass. A complainant stated a subject was shooting at his dogs and bullet holes were found in his lawnmower. Josh Brock Murray, age 18, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with criminal damage to property in the second degree.
Oct. 13, a complainant came to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office to report terroristic threats. The complainant has paid a total of $17,000.00 to a male subject claiming to help people with bad dreams. The subject continues to call the complainant and demand more money. Investigation continues.
