Patsy Johnson Aspinwall, age 69, died Friday, February 11, 2011 at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was a native of Appling County living most of her life in Odum. She was a past member of the GA Hospital Association, GA Organization of Nurse Executives, GA Society of Patient Representatives, a past member of the Board of Directors of the Wayne County Boys and Girls Club, a Registered Nurse serving 34 years at Wayne Memorial Hospital, a graduate of the Brunswick College of Nursing and an active member of Altamaha Baptist Church and the Golden Rulers Sunday School Class.
Her parents, Wesley and Atha Bell Johnson; three brothers, Charles Johnson, Russell Johnson and Carlton Allen; and a sister, Marsha Ann Johnson, preceded her in death.
Surviving is her husband of 52 years, Buddy Aspinwall of Odum; daughter, Della and husband, Brian Nipper of Odum; two sons, Randy and wife, Cami Aspinwall of Odum and John and wife, Lori Aspinwall of Columbus; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Aspinwall, Madison Aspinwall, Mary Elizabeth Nipper, Wes Nipper, Sophie Aspinwall, Barrett Miller and Callie Miller; one sister, Mary Ann and husband, Franklin Griffis of Odum; two brothers, Walton and wife, Johnnie Johnson of Baxley and Jack and wife Linda Johnson of Thomasville; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 12, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 13 at 3:00 p.m. at the Altamaha Baptist Church with the Reverend Ryan Wilson officiating. Interment followed in the Odum City Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers were Dr. Jared Griffis, Damon Wright, Dr. Keith Johnson, Ricky Aspinwall, Jason Aspinwall and Scott Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers were the Golden Rulers Sunday School Class, Carolyn Harris, Jess Portwood, Earl and Jeanette Morris, Annette Kirksey, Deborah Wasdin, Mary Bird, Bruce and Karen Howard, Carolyn Saxon, Sylvia and Doug Daniels, Charlotte and Jerry Mosley, Don and Jackie Miller, Sondra Grantham, Sharon Herrin, Barbara and Auburn Horton and Rosie Miller.
