Bertha Crosby Aldridge, 67, of Alma, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. Aldridge was born Nov. 28, 1943 in Appling County to the late John Henry and Minnie Lee Shipes Crosby. She was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jennett Crawford and three brothers, J.B. Crosby, Jackerl Crosby and Earnest Crosby.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Aldridge of Alma; three daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Tommy Courson, Cindy and Keith Simmons and Lori and Colby Barber, all of Alma; four sisters, Betty O’Steen of Surrency, Emma Lee DeLoach, Willene Crosby and Dorothy Carter, all of Baxley; two brothers, Robert and Albert Crosby, both of Baxley; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10 in the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Davis officiated. Interment followed in Satilla Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Dean Collins, Benji DeLoach, Greg Carter, Henry Crosby, Ronnie Crosby, Raymond Crosby and Wayne Crosby.
Honorary pallbearers were all friends in attendance.
Musical selections were rendered by Lynn Crosby.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
