Almedia Williamson Crosby, 88, died Saturday, February 5, 2011 in the Pavilion. Mrs. Crosby was born in Emanuel County on Aug. 20, 1922 to the late George and Rosie Hewlett Williamson. She was a member of Baxley Free Will Baptist Church. Almedia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister and was an accomplished seamstress. She was preceded in death by her husband, H. L. Crosby, Jr., a sister, Madie Adams and brothers. G. E., Leon, Buck, Pete and Willie Williamson.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Maxine Crosby of Baxley and Randall and Pat Crosby of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Rvonia Courson of Hazlehurst and Lucille Odum of Baxley; one brother, Ronald Williamson of Baxley; grandchildren: Wendy Simmons, Mary Stone, Crystal Cotton, Michelle Ferdon, Travis Crosby, Blake Crosby, Chuck Crosby and Michael Edwards; great-grandchildren: Cole Simmons, Connor Simmons, Charlie Stone, Grace Cotton, Hank Crosby, Camilla Crosby, Patrick Crosby, Olivia Crosby, Sam Crosby, Guyton Crosby, Sawyer Crosby, Brian Ferdon, Jr., Timothy Ferdon, Josh Ferdon, Rebecca Edwards and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8 in the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Revs. David Amburgey and Gary Conger officiating. Interment followed in Omega Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Travis Crosby, Blake Crosby, Chuck Crosby, Charlie Stone, Michael Edwards, Cole Simmons, Connor Simmons and Brian Ferdon, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were the staff of the Pavilion and all friends in attendance.
Musical selections were rendered by the Apostles.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
