Anyway, back to the importance of the mission God set in my hands, heart and spirit to do for this county!
I have had first hand knowledge for many years since at least 2002 how corrupt, abusive and incompetent the sheriff’s office was being operated. Wow! How much taxpayer money has been wasted for a department that is by all descriptions by the people, the county, the state and this country… a total waste of taxpayer dollars!
Well, after being put back in the sorry situation I found myself in a few weeks ago I am absolutely convicted to stop the corruption. My IQ…by God’s grace is 138…Awesome because he won’t allow me to stop until I stop what is going on here. Well, now this lil’ 110 lb. woman came up against the sheriff’s department. I don’t live here anymore by God’s grace, but I do care! Just plain old good sense took over.
After coming down from Rome on Wednesday a few weeks ago, I had an unadvertised ‘Estate Sale’ on Hatch Parkway North, the first weekend down all was going well until around 9:30 a.m. when I found a chair under my bathroom window and my daughter’s window had been pried on. Officer Leon McKinney is to be commended for doing his job efficiently and completely after that the ‘real’ department started showing up! I had to call them back twice that same day.
As you will understand as I explain, I have been doing investigative work for this department for years. Sometime back in 2004, I got up close and personal with the sheriff after naming the drug dealer who was selling prescription drugs to whoever had cash, not only that, but that this dealer didn’t allow everyone to come to his house so, those were instructed to leave money on his daddy’s tombstone at a local church and he would pick up the money and leave their pills, also that he got his mother hooked and got her to sign over the property she and her husband had worked for all their lives, to him so that he could purchase property over in Wayne County. Hmm, seems like I was doing a lot of police work and not getting paid way back then.
Well, believe me, I’ve done a lot of legwork for them to no avail! I’ve come to realize, not only by personal experience, but also through others here in the county also, it is not lucrative to the sheriff’s office to arrest the drug dealers – that dries up the real source of income – the probationers and parolees!
For those who haven’t had any experience with how this works, you arrest those who are addicted (Believe me, they almost let my son die twice at their hands as he withdrew from Oxycontin – a very dangerous situation! Now, you send them to court, when you get done collecting state funds for housing them in the jail for a ridiculous amount of time. Then, they get sentenced to probation detention or prison – whichever they decide is more lucrative. They give them these impossible fines to pay, since there are no jobs around here, and when they are released and can’t find work to pay the fines – they go back to the old lifestyle, because there is money to be made in the underworld of drug business on both sides!! Doctors are now the most legitimate way to deal drugs these days! What a ‘banking’ system for the department and the doctors. The sheriff’s office doesn’t want to arrest the drug dealers or doctors; they are steady taking on new customers with each arrest. They know the users are the ones who can’t help themselves and will keep coming back for more! The last I heard, it cost around $42K to house an inmate per year.
I would dare to say that 85 to 90 percent of the people locked up are there due to technical issues. I know because my son is in prison right now for 20 months for not giving a change of address. Sure hope you are getting a portrait painted for you, because I’ve had to look at this painting on the wall for quite some time.
What I’ve described so far, not only have I lived in and with but many, many others here have too – start talking for God’s sake! I simply came down here to get ready to sell my home and sell things I didn’t need to carry back to Rome with me. I only intended to be here for two weeks max! It has been four going on five.
I have had to call the sheriff’s office out here more than half a dozen times over a three-week period. Stolen digital camera, stun-gun, antique furniture, attempted break-ins, etc…then to add insult to fright… when I went to pick up the incident reports they were incomplete, incorrect or didn’t even exist. What a waste of taxpayer money!! Incompetence, corruption, abuse of power! I had first-hand experience with all of this! There are a small handful (not including the sheriff), who I believe, that are trying to do things right.
Now, concerning what certain family members have put me through over their concern for me…I was signed into Georgia Regional this past weekend. Well, can you imagine what that felt like being handed over to people who already knew that you had gone to the DA and Internal Affairs about the misleadings’ of their department? Wow, thanks for all of the concern! Thank God, I was never admitted – what a joke!! I was at high risk of a stroke, because I wasn’t allowed to get my blood pressure medicine before leaving home. By the way we are surrounded by Pineland Mental Health. Why would taxpayers need to pay to have someone transported all the way to Savannah?
They didn’t even have a psychiatrist there. I was evaluated by an internal medicine doctor. I explained to him that in order to get into a nuclear plant, as I have been, you are required to take a 500-question ‘physc’ test, which I passed. How Ironic that one of the family members who signed for me to be there, is diagnosed with bi-polar/manic depressive and refuses to take medication for it. Oh, well, life goes on! Anyway, as I was being dismissed (after being found to be a sane and competent woman) my blood pressure reading was 169/110! So, thanks to my family the sheriff’s dept. and GA Regional (which I will do all in my power to SHUT DOWN) I almost died at the hands’ of these ‘caring’ people. I do want to sincerely thank my aunts and uncles who have stood by me not only financially, but also emotionally through this mess.
I’ve had to ask God to forgive me for some of the things I was stressed into saying to some of these ‘caring’ people, but that is between me and Him! All forgiven
Well, I could keep going, but I won’t.
Sincerely,
Charmaine White Cole
