Dean Hallman, 76, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011 at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia. Mr. Hallman was born June 11, 1935 in Appling County to the late Washington Hampton Hallman and the late Annie Lee Milton Hallman.
He was a retired farmer and bus driver for the Appling County Board of Education. Dean was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Faye Pritcher Hallman and a son, Ted Hallman.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Leigh and Earl Miller and Pam and Gary Turner, all of Baxley; one son and daughters-in-law, Dane and Jan Hallman and Sharon Hallman, all of Baxley; two sisters, Winnifred Sellers of Baxley and Anne Cornwell of Manassas, VA; one brother, J. W. Hallman of Connecticut; ten grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held at 12:00 noon Tuesday, Sept. 27 from the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Revs. Justin McLellan, James Medders and Paul Bell officiating. Interment followed in Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jerry Hallman, Billy Hallman, Dennis Hallman, Jimmy Sellers, J. W. Hallman, Richard Hallman and Wesley Horne.
Honorary pallbearers were Appling County Bus Drivers and the Adult Sunday School Class of Riverside Baptist Church.
Musical selections were rendered by Sherry Beach, Jon Alexander and Robert Duvall.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain funeral Home.
