The Professional Association of Educators (PAGE) is the state coordinator and primary sponsor for the STAR program.
The Georgia Department of Education and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce co-sponsor the state program, as well as the Baxley-Appling County Chamber of Commerce.
This year’s STAR student for Appling County High School is Caitlin Leigh Crosby. Caitlin is an honor graduate. Her score on the SAT was 1850 out of a possible 2400. She has earned the President’s Award for Educational Excellence and the Top Ten of Class Award throughout her high school career. Also, during her junior year she received the Georgia Certificate of Merit and was nominated for Governor’s Honor Program in Biology. She was chosen to participate in the Presidential Scholars Interviews at Georgia Southern and Mercer Universities.
This young lady participated in numerous activities while at ACHS: Appling County Pirate Brigade and Concert Bands, Quiz Bowl team and the Science Olympiad. She was involved in several community theater productions with the Arts Council of Appling County and is a member of First Baptist Church of Baxley.
She has spent her junior and senior years as a full time student in the dual enrollment program with Middle Georgia College, taking college courses on campus and receiving credit with ACHS. While at Middle Georgia College, she has participated in the MGC Percussion Ensemble and the Foreign Language club. She will graduate with her Associate degree from Middle Georgia College this spring.
Caitlin Crosby is the daughter of Mitch and Robin Crosby, and the granddaughter of Bill and Wanda Eason, and the late Sam and Fannie Crosby.
