Betty Dubberly Dean, 71, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital in Savannah. Betty was born to the late Frank Chancey and the late Cleo Lightsey Chancey Jan. 11, 1940 in Appling County and had lived here most of her life. She was a licensed cosmetologist and was self-employed. Mrs. Dean attended Harvest Chapel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Dean and a daughter, Lynn Griffin Mann.
Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Dubberly; one sister, Josie Moody of Baxley; one brother, Claude Chancey of Kissimmee, FL; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15 in the chapel of David E. Miles Funeral Home with pastors Agnes and Randy Sellers officiating. Interment followed in Antioch Congregational Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Derek Johnson, Allen Lightsey, Marty McIntyre, Eric Squires, Dustin Johnson and Joe Pearce.
Musical selections were rendered by Floyd Hunter and Debra Johnson.
Arrangements were under the direction of David E. Miles Funeral Home.
