Susie L. Gibbens
Susie L. Gibbens, 83, of Temple, Texas, formerly of Baxley, died Friday, September 16, 2011 in a Temple hospital. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 17, at Heights Baptist Church in Temple with Dr. Tom Henderson and the Rev. Billy Koinm officiating. Burial was at Pinelawn Memorial Gardens in Bacon County, at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 24.
Mrs. Gibbens was born December 28, 1927 in Miami, FL, to Henry Grady and Hattie Serepta Sellers Leggett. She was a graduate of Edison High School in Miami and attended the University of Miami. She had been a resident of Baxley for 13 years and had worked as a bookkeeper for Bob’s Wholesale in Baxley. Mrs. Gibbens was a former member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Sue Henderson and husband, Dr. Tom Henderson of Temple; one son, Roy Gibbens, Jr. and wife, Rae of Etowah, North Carolina; one sister, Lorena Lynch of Jesup; four grandchildren, Joshua Henderson, Sara Henderson, Stacy Henderson and Sara Gibbens
