Imogene Carter Mincey
Imogene Carter Mincey, 67, died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. Mincey was a native of Appling County. She was born August 18, 1944 to the late Emmett Carter and Elizabeth Carter. She was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church. Imogene was employed by Douglas and Harper Manufacturing for 39 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendall Mincey, a sister, Zennie Baxley and brothers, W. G. “Son” Carter, Franklin “Spring” Carter, Welton “Tim” Carter and Wallace Carter.
Imogene loved fishing, cooking, canning and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Angie and Cricket Taylor and Leigh and Quentin Hall; two sons and daughters-in-law, LeRoy and Tasha Mincey and Kendall and Hollie Mincey; two sisters, Velma Dominy and Yvonne DeLoach; two brothers, James Edward Carter and Emmett “Mann” Carter, all of Baxley; grandchildren, Christopher and Samantha Mincey, Devin Mincey, Brittany and Thomas Butler, Cassie Taylor, Clint and Marie Taylor, McKenzie Mincey, Austin Hall and Dawson Hall; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sept. 13 at Spring Branch Baptist Church with the Revs. Bryan Gill and Robert Wigley officiating. Eulogy was given by Stewart Reeves. Interment followed in Carter Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Roy Williamson, Lanier Branch, Andy Branch, Dwayne Carter, Burnette Reeves, Vann Carter, Dewayne Carter and Dane Bruce III.
Honorary pallbearers were staff of Southern Care Hospice, Dr. Singh and staff, Dr. Errol Graham and Dr. Ted Farmer.
Musical selections were rendered by Glynda Reeves, Loraine Purcell, and the Rev. Bryan Gill and the congregation.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
