Thomas D. Stewart, Sr., 91, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011 in Bacon County Hospital. Mr. Stewart was born July 24, 1920 in Ware County to the late William Warren Stewart and the late Maude Burns Stewart. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Baxley Kiwanis. Thomas was a veteran of WWII having served in the United States Navy and was the owner of Stewart and Associates. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Nell Veal Stewart.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Mary K. and Ron Nencioni of Baxley; three sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Sherrie Stewart of St. Simons Island, George and Michelle Stewart of St. Simons Island and Warren and Cindy Stewart of Baxley; grandchildren, Stewart Nencioni, Matt Nencioni, Christina Nencioni, Stella Stewart, Hank Stewart, Chloe Stewart, Amelia Stewart, Lily Stewart, April Webb, Aimee Stewart, Katelyn Stewart, C. G. Stewart, J. K. Whitaker and Cayce Duvall; great grandchildren, Lindsay Webb, Will Webb, Callie Branch, Emmaline Branch, Georgia Branch, Taylor Branch, Gracie Lewis and Marissa Duvall.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13 at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Thad Harvey and Tommy Daniels officiating. Interment followed in the family plot at Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Lewis Parker, Bill Parker, David Carter, Glenn Durden, Michael Pikula and Stewart Pikula.
Musical selections were rendered by Jeff Lewis.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
