Bobby Merle O’Quinn, 63, died Saturday, September 3, 2011 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Hahira on Aug. 13, 1948 to the late Merle Blanton O’Quinn and a surviving mother, Ruby Nell Register O’Quinn. He was retired from Georgia Power and was Baptist by faith. Bobby was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army, he was an avid NASCAR fan, and also enjoyed the outdoors, especially deer hunting and fishing on the flats and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Eason O’Quinn of Baxley; one step-daughter, Jennifer Babjak of Tallahassee, FL; one step-son, Bryan Babjak of Valdosta; his mother, Ruby Register O’Quinn of Valdosta; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Faye and John Turner of Maryville, Tenn., Diane and Lawrence Hesters and Vickie and Ronnie Price, all of Valdosta; three brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lamar and Sue Tyre of Waycross, Payne and Sandra Eason of Baxley and Graham and Teresa Eason of Washington, GA and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6 in the chapel of Music Funeral Services of Valdosta. Burial followed in Omega Cemetery in Baxley at 2:00 p.m. The family received friends Monday evening, Sept. 5 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
