Ruby Stone, 86, died Monday, September 5, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. Stone was born July 26, 1925 in Tattnall County to the late William “Bill” and Lela Wilson Driggers. She was a member of Baxley Christian Center. One of her special gifts was her love and compassion for everyone she met, she always put everyone else above herself. Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by her husband, Bernace Stone, a son, Larry Stone, a grandson, Chad Dickerson and a son-in-law, Danny Brewer.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Brewer of Alma, Cheryl Stone of Baxley and Bernice Dickerson of Charleston, S.C.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wesley and Debbie Stone and Curtis and Cathy Stone, all of Baxley; one sister, Alma Gill of Glennville; five grandchildren, Angie Stone, Courtney Stone, Craig Stone, Tammy Winkworth and Renae Stone and four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Winkworth, Mackayla Winkworth, Dillon Stone and Amber Stone; and her lapdog and best friend, Abby.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8 in the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Rev. and Mrs. Walter Langdon officiating. Interment followed in Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Barry Sharpe, Craig Stone, Tommy Youmans, Clifton Mincey, Jerry Hallman and Winston Mincey.
Honorary pallbearers were members of Baxley Christian Center.
Musical selections were rendered by Betty Todd and Kenny Towns.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
