Rachel Smith Dougherty
Rachel Smith Dougherty, 90, of Forest Park, Ga. passed away at the Appling Healthcare System Pavilion on August 29. Mrs. Dougherty was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Nick Dougherty.
She is survived by her brother Gabe (Colleen) Smith, Clarksville, TN; sons, Dan (Anne) Dougherty. Portland, OR and Ethan (Irma) Dougherty, Baxley, GA; grandchildren, Dylan and Sara Dougherty, Portland, OR, Ken Dougherty, Charleston, SC, Matt (Erica) Dougherty, Villa Rica, GA; nephew, Kerry (Betty) Smith, Palmyra, TN; nieces, Alicia (Doug) Barber, Clarksville, TN and Alexis (Phil) Taylor, Cumberland City, TN. Mrs. Dougherty retired as a school secretary with the Clayton County School System. She was a member of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church, Lake City, GA.
A funeral service was held Thursday, September 1, at 11:00 a.m. at Jones Memorial UMC and interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Richard C. Long and the Rev. Marti Slife officiated the service. Honorary pallbearers were the staff of the Appling Healthcare Pavilion. The family asked that contributions be made in lieu of flowers to Jones Memorial United Methodist Church or your favorite charity.
Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors, Morrow, GA, were in charge of arrangements.
