Appling County Prekindergarten Students were welcomed to school on Tuesday, August 23. Prior to beginning school, all students and their parents had the opportunity to visit the school they would be attending through Open House. Open House allowed all students and parents to visit their classroom and teacher. Important information and dialog occurred during this time in order to make the beginning of school a successful experience.
On the 23rd, these young students arrived with smiling faces eager to begin their school career. Parents appeared to be filled with mixed emotions concerning this new transition. They were definitely excited that their child would be filled with learning opportunities and that they would be in good care, but it was difficult for some to release their child to begin this new chapter.
Superintendent Scarlett Copeland commended all Prekindergarten Teachers and the skills they possess to make these transitions as uncomplicated as possible. She reported that she visited the schools this week and found both students and parents adjusting nicely. Principals, Cheryl Stephens, and Pat Hailey were also instrumental in welcoming these students and easing this transition. They stood out front and greeted families with warm smiles and words of encouragement. The overall staff is to be applauded for such a smooth start.
