Mrs. Oralene James Morris, 88, of Lyons, died Saturday, August 13, 2011 in the Pavilion in Baxley after an extended illness. She was a native of Toombs County, and lived there all of her life until moving to Baxley with her daughter five years ago due to family illness. She retired from the City Florist in Lyons, and Morris Finance and Tax Service in Baxley. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lyons. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Toombs County Chapter #546 where she served as the secretary for ten years. She was a member of the Order of the Amaranth and a community volunteer. Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Morris; a son, Donald J. Morris, and two brothers, Glynn James and Coye James.
Mrs. Morris is survived by one daughter, Sharon D. Morris of Baxley; three sisters-in-law, Etheleen James of Lyons, Betty Morris of Alma and Ruby Morris of Vidalia, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 15 at 3:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Lyons with the Reverend Dr. Max Hill and the Reverend Barry Giddens officiating. Interment followed in the Lyons City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dale Morris, Richard Morris, David Taylor, Dale James, Wendell James, and Oliver Whipple.
Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia was in charge of arrangements.
