William David Branch, 92, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 in the Community Hospice in Vidalia. Mr. Branch was born Feb. 7, 1918 in Appling County to the late Dr. Willis Dave Branch and the late Rosalie Dozier Branch. He was a member of First Baptist Church of St. Simons Island. Mr. Branch was former owner and operator of Utopia Cleaners and Southeastern Monument Company.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in World War II in the invasion of Iwo Jima. Mr. Branch was preceded in death by his wife, Rosmer Branch and two brothers, Jim Dozier Branch and Howard Branch.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7 in the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Brown officiating. Eulogy given by Billy Snell. Interment followed in Omega Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Billy Snell, Roger Kennedy, Jr., Bob Branch, Jimmy Branch, Ricky Branch and Craig Snell.
Musical selections were rendered by Claire Tanner.
