Sheriff Benny DeLoach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
July 30, answered a call to Baxley Housing in reference to a burglary. An unknown person (s) entered a mobile and took a Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator valued at $1,500.00. Investigation continues.
July 30, a routine traffic stop on Lennox Road resulted in the arrest of Christopher Khole Sellers, 20, of Baxley, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug related objects and open container.
July 30, answered a call to Buckhead Road in reference to an unresponsive subject. Family members found Ms. Evelyn Collins, 86, of Baxley, unresponsive. The Appling EMS responded and Coroner Nick Grimes pronounced Ms. Collins deceased. Collins appeared to have died of natural causes.
July 31, answered a call to the lobby of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a domestic dispute. The complainant stated an altercation occurred between two females at Willies Club.
July 31, a routine traffic stop on Highway 341 resulted in the arrest of Norris Gibbs, Jr., 26, of Surrency. Gibbs was charged with possession of marijuana and a seatbelt violation.
Aug. 1, answered a call to Moody Altman Road in reference to a domestic dispute. The complainant stated her boyfriend punched her in the face. No visible marks were present and the boyfriend had left the scene.
Aug. 1, answered a call to Satilla Church Road in reference to harassing text message. The ex-wife has received harassing text messages from her ex-husband.
Aug. 1, answered a call to Ed Carter Road in reference to a theft. The complainant stated a family member had taken several items from his residence and pawned them at a local pawnshop. Warrants are being secured.
Aug. 1, answered a call to Satilla Church Road in reference to a theft.
Taken from residence were a lap top computer, charger and a bag of food.
The possible suspect is under investigation.
Aug. 1, answered a call to George Craven Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated she let a person test drive a car she had for sell. The person has not returned the car and has not paid for the car.
Aug. 1, answered a call to Lakeview Drive in reference to a theft. The complainant stated a five-gallon bucket of J-hooks valued at $500.00 was taken. Investigation continues.
Aug. 1, answered a call to Golden Isles West in reference to a domestic dispute. A verbal dispute occurred between a husband and a wife. The husband was advised to leave the residence for the night.
Aug. 1, answered a call to Black Creek Terrace in reference to Harassment. The complainant stated her ex-husband is sending her harassing text messages.
Aug. 1, answered a call to Gardenia Circle in reference to cruelty to animals. A complainant stated a juvenile threw his cat in front of some dogs and the dogs killed his cat. The complainant was advised to speak with the juvenile justice officer to seek charges.
Aug. 1, answered a call on Pine Ridge Road in reference to a domestic dispute. The complainant stated that the victim had taken the children and had gone missing. The victim called at a later time and advised that everyone was safe.
Aug. 2, answered a call to West River Road in reference to a missing juvenile. The mother of the juvenile stated the teenage boy had been missing since the previous day. The dispatch was notified later in the day that the juvenile had returned home. The responding officer went back to the residence and verified that the juvenile was in good condition and no evidence of physical abuse.
Aug. 5, met with the complainant at the sheriff’s office in reference to a child custody issue. The complainant stated that the father of the child was supposed to meet with the complainant and exchange the child, however didn’t show up.
Aug. 5, answered a call on Henry Clifton Road in reference to a burglary. Taken was a 32 inch Sanyo TV. Investigation continues.
Aug. 5, answered a call on Kennedy Road in reference to a domestic dispute. Arrested in connection with this incident was Christopher Brian Turner, 35, and Tonya T. Turner, 32, both of Baxley. Both subjects were charged with disorderly conduct and were transported to the detention center.
The Appling County Sheriff’s Office has had a report of a stray cow. If you have lost a cow, please contact the Appling County Sheriff’s Office at 912-367-8120. At present time, the cow is secured.
