Amelia Johnson, 65, died Thursday, August 6, 2011 at her residence. She was born to the late Bennie Stephens and the late Annie Kicklighter Stephens on Jan. 22, 1946 in Baxley and had resided here all of her life. Amelia was retired and before retirement she worked as a saleslady for Liberty National Life Insurance Company and she was a member of First Baptist Church of Baxley.
Survivors include her husband, Winston Johnson of Baxley; two sons, Shawn (Karen) Johnson and Stephen Johnson of Baxley; three sisters, Wynell Yawn of Roanoke, AL, Dorothy Dyal of Baxley and Geneva Hutchinson of Fitzgerald; two brothers, Linton Stephens of Hazlehurst and Eugene Stephens of Baxley; and seven grandchildren, Courtney, Janett, Landon, Zoey, Abbie, Chase and Parker.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6 at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Glenn Cranford and Keith Alderman officiating. Interment followed in Miles Family Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Kenny Murphy, Tommy Stephens, James Stephens, Virgil Dyal, Allen Stephens and Donnie Varnadore.
Honorary pallbearers were Neil Shumans, Michael Paige, Justin Orvin, Brian Cannington, Carlie Cranford, Larry Odom, Charles Davis, Glen Davis, Billy Youmans and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Eicher.
Musical selections were rendered by Elaine Black.
Arrangements were under the direction of David E. Miles Funeral Home.
