Sheriff terminates deputy
According to Appling County Sheriff Benny Deloach on Friday, July 29, he was made aware of allegations involving a sheriff’s office employee, Investigator Richard Griffin, engaging in improper and potentially illegal conduct.
As is customary in these types of investigations the information was turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and District Attorney for further investigation and possible criminal prosecution.
Griffin was terminated from employment as of 2:00 p.m. on July 29. At the request of the District Attorney, no further comment will be made at this time so as not to jeopardize the ongoing investigation.
