George W. Copeland, 90, of Hampton, passed away on July 29, 2011. Mr. Copeland was a faithful servant of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church and a skilled craftsman in the art of wood-working. Mr. Copeland had served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Delta Air Lines after 27 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline T. Copeland; son, Bruce and Jewel Copeland; step-children, Tom and Gail Mills, Paula Mills and Marjorie Lynch; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, July 31, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Westmoreland and the Rev. Gary Parrish officiating. Burial followed at Camp Memorial Park. The family received friends on Saturday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville.
