The staff of Appling County High School care about our students. This care extends from academics, to well-being, and to overall student achievement. The mission of Appling County High School is to promote Academic Achievement, Civic Responsibility and Extracurricular Excellence.
I look forward to this school year with great excitement and hope all of our students will have a rewarding and successful year. Please take time to visit the school’s website where valuable information can be found. Additions and modifications have been made to the student handbook: extended year has been eliminated, tardies will affect exam exemptions, and no longer will incidental referrals count towards the cumulative 10 referrals for long tern Out of School Suspension (OSS). There is a new Alternative Night School for students with behavior issues.
Ninth Grade Orientation is planned for Monday, August 8, at 5:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center. Only ninth graders will receive a copy of their schedule and a tour of the campus. Returning students who would like to review their schedules prior to the first day of school may log on to Infinite Campus. You will not receive a copy of your schedule until the first day of school, August 9, 2011 in your homeroom.
Students, I encourage you to make the most of your high school experience and I hope you will take advantage of the resources we have to offer you at ACHS. If you look around our school, there are administrators, teachers, counselors and office staff, and all of these individuals are on campus to help you have a successful and memorable high school experience. If you have a question or concern, please go and talk with the appropriate staff person.
I would like to invite and encourage you to come out and support our athletic and extra-curricular events. The girl’s softball team starts their season at home against Ware County on August 9, 2011 at 6:00 PM. The season opener for our football team is at home on August 26, 2011 against Dodge County, and that evening you will also have an opportunity to watch the cheerleading squad and band perform.
Sincerely,
Gene A. Starr, Jr.
Appling County High School Principal
