There have been numerous occasions over the years guest writers have written controversial opinions to this newspaper for publication, and in many instances, these opinions have caused what I like to refer to as a “Shoot The Messenger”-type mentality with The News-Banner playing the role as messenger. This is it folks. After the exhaustive battle between President Obama and Governor Romney, you now get to decide on November 6 who you would like to be your next President of the United States. 9-11 has turned into a nightmare once again. Al Qaida has chosen this day on the calendar for regular attacks on the “Great Satan”, aka the United States of America. But this year is particularly troublesome because not only did Americans die in the attacks, but this year our own government decided to lie about it. [Full Story »] 

A lady called The News-Banner a few days back and reported a potential threat that local seniors need to be aware of. She stated that a man representing a so-called prize-winning company called Sweepstakes Clearinghouse had contacted her elderly mother via telephone. The man, Joe Turner, told the elderly lady she had won an amazing $250,000.00 and all she had to do was mail the sweepstakes company a check for $2,500.00 to 12 Robin Terrace, East Hartford, Connecticut, to claim her prize. Supposedly once the check was mailed and received, a lawyer for Sweepstakes Clearinghouse would come with a constable and members of the Better Business Bureau to present the $250,000.00 prize to the lady. I have been closely following the chatter involving the Constitutional Amendment for Charter Schools that will be presented to voters on the ballot November 6. The amendment question will be presented in the following manner:
“Shall the Constitution of Georgia be amended to allow state or local approval of public charter schools upon the request of local communities?” [Full Story »]
