Phillip Kerry Geiger, 57, of Brunswick, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012. Phillip was born Feb. 7, 1955 in Jacksonville, FL. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Brunswick and had attended Midway Baptist Church of Baxley. Geiger was retired from Gulfstream Aerospace. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Iva Louise Geiger and a brother, Paul Henry Geiger.

Stoney Artemus Hartley, 69, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 in the Pavilion. Hartley was born April 9, 1943 to the late Daniel Harvey Hartley and the late Mattie Estelle Gordon Hartley. He was a member of Baxley Church of God. Hartley was preceded in death by his wife, Nelda Long Hartley and two sisters, Vonice Deen and Pauline Smith.

Wynnell Taylor Sellers, 93, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 at Appling Healthcare System. A native of Emmanuel County, she had lived in Appling County for the past 85 years. She was born Nov. 27, 1919 to the late Judson Taylor and the late Halie Davis Taylor. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church. Wynnell was preceded in death by her husband, W. Lamar Sellers.

Eugene “Gene” Teston
Eugene “Gene” Teston, 77, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 in Jesup. Gene was born June 12, 1935 in Bacon County to the late Albert Lee Teston and the late Ninas Underwood Teston. He was a member of Baxley Christian Center. Teston was a veteran of the United States Army. He was the owner of Gene’s Fitness Center and Karate School. He was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Teston.

Mamie Lou Ahl, 89, passed away Tuesday, November 27, at Pigeon Forge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Pigeon Forge, TN. She was a native of Appling County and a member of Bethesda Baptist Church in Dublin. She was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Ahl; parents, William E. and Lela Carter; four sisters, Zeda Carter, Bea Carter McClain, Molly Carter Holton and Audrey Carter Calloway and three brothers, Staten Carter, Willis Carter and Wade Carter.

REVEREND BURLESTER “JUNIOR” LAMAR TILLMAN, JR.
On Nov. 19, 2012 the Lord called The Rev. Burlester “Junior” Lamar Tillman, Jr. home. He was born Nov. 25, 1944 in Baxley. He attended the public schools of Appling County and later went on to The Fort Valley State College, in Fort Valley. Furthering his education, he also attended Nursing School and Emory-Candler School of Theology of Atlanta. Burlester was one of the first EMT’s and Bus Drivers of Appling County.

Luther Gordon “L.G.” Beecher
Luther Gordon “L.G.” Beecher, 80, passed away Sunday, November 18, at Candler Hospital in Savannah after an extended illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Baxley. He was a Charter Member and Trustee of Faith Baptist Church where he taught the Senior Saints Sunday School Class since 1993. He was a former Deacon and Sunday School teacher for over 30 years at Friendship Congregational Christian Church. He loved his family, gardening, growing flowers with Mrs. Christine and riding his tractor. He enjoyed supplying friends and family with watermelon. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman and he loved the Lord.

Ruth Campbell, 75, of Perry, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012. Ms. Campbell was born Oct. 30, 1937 in Lakewells, FL to the late Clarence Malone Dawson and the late Corine Bundy Dawson. She was a member of The Refuge Assembly of God. Ruth was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Campbell; two sons, Michael Lee Campbell and Anthony Wayne Campbell; one brother, William Earl Dawson and a former husband, Floyd Lee Campbell.

Michael Rodney Tillman
Michael Rodney Tillman, 53, of Surrency, died Nov. 24, 2012 in a car accident in Baxley. Tillman is the son of the late James and Della Mae Tillman. Michael Rodney was born Nov. 16, 1959. He was a life long resident of Appling County. Michael was a graduate of the Journeyman Ironworkers and was a Union member of the local 709. In addition to his parents, his brother, Jimmy Tillman, preceded him in death.

Addie H. Dubberly
Addie H. Dubberly, 88, of Valdosta, wife of Cecil E. Dubberly, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012 after several years of illness. A native of Appling County, Mrs. Dubberly was born June 16, 1924, a daughter of the late Richard A. and Fleety Dukes Herrington. For several years she was employed at Gordon Street School as a teachers aide and assistant librarian and enjoyed her time there very much. She was also a dedicated Pink Lady at South Georgia Medical Center for many years, and also a member of Woodmen of the World.

Paul William Haffele
Paul William Haffele, 79, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Community Hospice Facility in Vidalia. He was a Retired United States Navy Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam War. Haffele was a member of the Navy Fleet Reserve and a proud supporter of the Wounded Warriers and USO. He was in the automotive parts business for over 30 years. His wife of 41 years, Mary Jerrell Leggett Haffele, preceded him in death.

Juanita Aldridge Miles
Juanita Aldridge Miles, 92, died on the 18th of November 2012, under Hospice care at the family cottage on St. Simon’s Island after an extended illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County having been born in Surrency and spending her adult life in Baxley. She was a full time loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and confidant. Ms. Miles was a member of First Baptist Church of Baxley, a past officer and member of Queen Ester-Fidelis Sunday-School Class, a member of the Julia Jarman Circle at First Baptist Church for eight years, a member of First Baptist Church Choir for eighteen years, a member of Pine Forest Garden Club for twenty plus years, and an active member in regular bridge and canasta groups.

Waunell Denison Thornton
Waunell Denison Thornton, 86, of Bristol, died Saturday, November 24, 2012 in Golden Living Center after an extended illness. She was a member of Ritch Missionary Baptist Church and the Ladies Sunday School Class. For many years, she enjoyed operating the family business, Thornton’s Grocery Store in Bristol, farming, gardening and being with her family. She was predeceased by her husband, James Harvey Thornton; several siblings, Wilton “Witt”, Waldo “Wallie”, Jay, Eugene “Dink” Denison and Angie Denison Thornton.
