Roy V. Green, Jr.
Roy V. Green, Jr., 85, of Brunswick, died Dec. 5, 2011 at South East Georgia Health System in Brunswick. Roy was born in Glynn County to the late Roy Virgil Green, Sr. and the late Lucretia Taylor Green. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Green was employed by Brunswick Pulp and Paper for 43 years and was a member of the Marine Corp League and Masonic Lodge 214. He was a WWII veteran, PFC in the Marine Corp where he fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima and the Volcano Islands. He was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart. Roy loved his family and was an avid animal lover. His wife, Costello Steedley Green, preceded him in death.

Timothy S. Howell
Timothy S. Howell, 39, died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011 at his mother’s residence on Bethel Road in Surrency. Timothy was born in St. Mary’s on April 14, 1972 and had resided in Crestview, FL for the past five years. He had worked in the maintenance department with the Okaloosa County Detention Center.

Virginia C. Mullis
Virginia C. Mullis, 85, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2011 at the Pavilion. Ms. Mullis was born Nov. 11, 1926 in Pierce County and had lived in Baxley for most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Dunn Memorial Baptist Church. Virginia was the daughter of the late Alston Cook and the late Bessie Ivey Cook. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie B. Mullis, a sister, Rose Chancey and a brother, Preston Cook.

William Martin “W.M.” Reeves
William Martin “W.M.” Reeves, 85, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2011 at the Pavilion. Mr. Reeves was born in Appling County Sept. 8, 1926 to the late James Edward and Eunice Stone Reeves. He was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church. W.M. was preceded in death by his wife, Effie Mae Cain Reeves, a sister, Ethel Hipps and a brother, J.C. Reeves.

Allen Middleton Tuten
Allen Middleton Tuten, 85, of Macon, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011. Mr. Tuten was born July 20, 1926 in Appling County to the late John Leslie Tuten and the late Minnie Rice Middleton Tuten. He was a charter member of Forest Hills United Methodist Church. Mr. Tuten was a member of the Exchange Club of Macon, former member of Grace Sunday-School Class, Forest Hills Men’s Chorus and was a graduate of the University of Georgia. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in WWII and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Tuten retired as Lieutenant Commander from the U.S. Navy Reserves with 21 years of service. He was retired from Anderson Chemical Company where he served many years as comptroller. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Barwick Tuten, a son, Jeffrey Allen Tuten, brother, John Edward Tuten and sister, Lora Elizabeth Tuten Bowers.

Thelma Collins Yawn, 88, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2011 at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin. Thelma was born April 22, 1923 to the late Samuel and Rebecca Clark Collins. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.

William (Warren) Harvey
William (Warren) Harvey, 79, of Baxley, and Wayne County, died Friday, December 2, 2011 at his residence, after an extended illness. The Glynn County native and former resident of Odum, had resided in Appling County for the past 49 years and was a retired State Supervisor with the Board of Corrections and the Department of Labor for 20 years. He was formerly with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and was known for writing, playing, and recording country music. He was a U. S. Air Force Veteran and was an avid fisherman and gardener.

Paul T. Yandell, 76, of Hendersonville, TN passed away Nov. 21, 2011 after a lengthy battle of cancer. He was a devoted husband and a loving father and was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore B. “Ted” and Imogene Ridings Yandell.

Lennie “Lynn” Mae Johnson
Lennie “Lynn” Mae Johnson, 56 years young, was granted her angel wings on November 13, 2011. We lost our friend, supporter, daughter, companion, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and niece and cherished Nana. She left behind her spouse, Sterling “Clay” Damron; her beloved mother, Jewel Faye Hollar Adams; three daughters, Cyndi, Maria and Julie, along with their spouses, Keith Whichard, Grant Gibson and Chad Carson; one son, Brandon Minear, along with his wife, Tina; two loving sisters, Vickie Herrington and Lisa Cullipher; her brother, Steve Johnson, and her extended family, Jocelyn Perdue, Mitchell Damron, Grant Damron and Casey Calvert. Nana left behind 13 amazing grandchildren.

Raymond H. “Bill” Mincey
Raymond H. “Bill” Mincey, 69, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011 at Appling Healthcare System. Mr. Mincey was born May 16, 1942 in Appling County to the late Raymond Mincey and the late Nola Mae Teems Mincey. He was a member of Friendship Congregational Christian Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent and choir member. Bill was a member of the Exchange Club, president of the Appling Healthcare Foundation, former member of the Baxley and Appling County Hospital Authority, founding member of the Songsmen Quartet and member of the Young Farmer’s Association. He was preceded in death by a brother, Shorty Mincey.

Eva M. Parker
Eva M. Parker, 92, died Nov. 19, 2011. Mrs. Parker was born Oct. 2, 1919 in Pearson to the late George Williams and the late Channie Williams. She attended Savannah State University and Brewton Parker College where she received her teaching certificate. Mrs. Parker was married to the late Ernest J. Parker. She was a member of Harpers Chapel United Methodist Church where she worked closely with the United Methodist Women and other UMW Chapters throughout the State of Georgia. Mrs. Parker received certificates from the Georgia State Department for the work she had done with the United Methodist Women. She also served on the steward board, class leader, Sunday-School teacher, financial secretary and many other church departments. She was recognized for her accomplishments by being invited to attend the inauguration of Gov. Jimmy Carter in Atlanta as well as being recognized by the Secretary of State Silas Vance, Gov. George Busbee and great words of encouragement from President Jimmy Carter.

Robert L. Thompson, 81, of Brunswick, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Thompson was a member at the New Life Sanctuary and had many hobbies including gardening, coin collecting and bee keeping.

Reverend Mikeal Lynn Starrick
The Reverend Mikeal Lynn Starrick, of North Charleston, S.C., entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011. The Rev. Starrick was the husband of Gwen Arnold Starrick. He was born Dec. 1, 1953 in Vernon, TX and was the son of the Rev. Frankie Eugene Starrick and the late Delores Calvert Whitaker Starrick, he was raised by his late stepmother, Joyce Bloodworth Starrick. The Rev. Starrick was the pastor of Ashley River Church of God for almost 14 years and served God through his ministry for 40 years. He will be remembered for being a wonderful husband, an amazing dad and a friend to many. He was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Mikeal Starrick.

Robert E. Young
With the start of a new life Robert E. Young crossed over from Earth to Glory on Nov. 14, 2011. His work on earth is finished. He will be missed by many, for he was a loved person. Robert was born May 1, 1950 in Savannah to the late Wesley Young, Jr. and Ms. Rosa. He was raised by the late Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Young, Sr. Robert and the former Glenda Russell were united in holy matrimony and with this marriage came seven children.
