Former Pirate golfer Ciera Bagley is playing well as a freshman at Columbus State University. Ciera graduated from Appling County High School and played golf for Coach Regina Warren. She advanced to the GHSA State Tournament in 2009 and finished third after winning the region championship. [Full Story »]

The Appling County Pirates traveled to face the Tattnall County Battle Creek Warriors (3-4, 2-2) on Friday, October 14 and were able to get the win, despite terrible officiating, by a score of 32-23. With the win the Pirates are now 7-0 on the season and 4-0 in Region 2AA. The Pirates will try to stay unbeaten as they travel to Long County to face the Blue Tide (0-7, 0-4) on Friday, October 21. This week the Appling Christian Academy Eagles played Kings Way for senior night. The game was very tight and scores went back and forth. But the Eagles lost 28 to 30. The Eagle offense played a good game and Andrew Phillips had 23 carries for 182 yards and Ben Hiers had 10 carries for 52 yards. Brandon Horton had three for six passes for 52 yards. The Appling County Pirates travelled to Toombs County on Friday, September 30 to face the Toombs County Bulldogs (0-6, 0-3) and were able to get the win 37-0. With the win the Pirates improve to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in Region 2AA play. At its annual Homecoming Game, Appling Christian Academy crowned the 2011 Homecoming Queen. Ms. Kayla Bohannon was the recipient of this year’s honor. The Eagles also picked up another big victory and remain undefeated this season.

Pirates Open Region Play With Win Over Herons

The Appling County Pirates hosted the Brantley County Herons on Friday, September 16 in the Region 2AA opener for both teams. The Pirates were able to overcome a slow start and pick up the win 26-13. With the win the Pirates improve to 4-0 on the season and 1-0 in region play. This past week Appling Christian Academy Eagles traveled to Hardeeville, South Carolina to play the Abundant Life Cougars. It was perfect weather for football and the Eagles played a great game. The Appling County Pirates traveled to Coffee County on Friday, September 9 to face the Trojans (2-2) and were able to pick up the win 28-21. The Pirates are now 3-0 to start the 2011 season and will begin Region 2AA play on Friday, September 16 at home against Brantley County Herons (0-3) before having an open week on September 23. The Pirates will continue play the following week, September 30, as they travel to Toombs County to face the Bulldogs (0-3). All the games are scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. [Full Story »]

This week the Appling Christian Academy Eagles played the Faith Christian Crusaders at Eagle Field. This was the toughest team the Eagles have played so far. But the Eagles came out with a 32 to 14 victory.

The Eagles played a good defensive game. The leading solo tacklers were Andrew Phillips with seven, Cameron Carter with six and Brandon Horton with five. Horton and Carter also had interceptions. [Full Story »]

The Appling County Pirates traveled to neighboring Wayne County (0-1-1) to face the Yellow Jackets on Friday, September 2. The Pirates were able to overcome a 9-18 halftime deficit to defeat the Yellow Jackets 35-25. With the win the Pirates improve to 2-0 on the 2011 season and will travel to face the Trojans of Coffee County (2-1) on Friday, September 9 in the Pirates final non-region contest of the season. The Appling County Pirates opened the regular season on Friday, August 26 against the Dodge County Indians at Jimmy Swain Stadium. The Pirates were able to get the win 20-0 and will travel to face neighboring Wayne County Yellow Jackets on Friday, September 2 with the game scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. The Yellow Jackets are coming off a 28-28 tie with Windsor Forest.
