The Appling County Pirates (3-2 Overall, 2-0 Region 1A-AAA) will travel to Dodge County (5-0, 3-0) Friday, October 9 for a region matchup beginning at 7:30 p.m.. The Pirates are coming off an open week, last defeating Toombs County (1-4, 0-2) 42-12 on September 25. Dodge County is coming off a 51-13 win over Toombs County on October 2. According to Georgia High School Football Historians Association, ghsfha.org, the Pirates have a 13-10 series advantage over Dodge County but lost 27-33 in overtime last season.
The Pirates will return to Jimmy Swain Stadium on October 16 to host Cook County (4-2, 2-1).
