The Appling County Pirates (3-4 Overall 2-2 Region 1A-AAA) hosted Cook County (6-2, 4-1) on October 16 losing 0-35. The Pirates will next travel to Pierce County (6-1, 4-0) on Friday, October 23 with the game scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
Pierce County is coming off a 41-20 win over Toombs County (1-6, 0-4). According to the Georgia High School Football Historians Association, ghsfha.org, this will be the twentieth meeting between the two teams dating back to 1992 with the Pirates holding a 13-6 series edge including a 17-14 win last season.
