The Appling Christian Academy softball team traveled to Valdosta for a best two-out-of three series. Their opponent was the Peoples Baptist Knights of McDonough. In game one, the Lady Eagles came out slugging and posted four runs in the top of the first. In the bottom of the first inning, the Lady Knights answered with two runs of their own, making the score 4-2. The next five innings turned into a pitching duel, with neither team scoring a single run. With the game still in doubt and the Lady Eagles holding a slim two run lead, the Lady Eagles were able to score an insurance run in the top of the seventh to take a 5-2 lead. The Appling County High School Lady Pirates track team results from the Region 2AA meet are as follows:

1600-meter/mile run: Myra Duran placed fifth with a time of 6:26.16. [Full Story »] 

The Appling County Pirates Boys track team 4x100-meter relay team was the State 2AA Champions with a time of 42:15 at the recent State Track Competition in Jefferson. The boys team placed sixth overall with 26 total points. [Full Story »]

The Appling County Pirates hosted the Crawford County Eagles on Friday in a best-of-three series of the GHSA AA State Playoffs. The Pirates won game one 16-0 in four innings and won the night cap 7-2. [Full Story »]

The Appling County Pirates hosted the last regular season home game of the season Monday night against the Brantley County Herons. The game had huge playoff implications. The winner would still have the chance to host the first round of the state playoffs by capturing the number two seed in region 2AA. The loser could slip all the way to fourth spot. The Pirates took care of business and took the game 15-2 by the way of the mercy run rule in five innings. [Full Story »] 

This past weekend the ACA baseball team won two of three games against the Barnes Academy Vikings. The Eagles dropped game one by a five to four score. The Eagles failed to score in the first inning but gave up the only earned run the Vikings would manage in the game. In the second inning two errors by the Eagles coupled with three walks would net the Vikings four more runs. [Full Story »]
