The Appling County Pirates travelled to face the Pierce County Bears (8-2, 7-0) on Friday, November 4. The Pirates would get down early but would have their fourth quarter comeback fall a little short losing 14-21. The loss drops the Pirates record to 9-1 overall and 6-1 in Region 2AA play. ACA Vollyball Team captures first GCAA State Championship

The Appling Christian Academy Volleyball team has captured its first State Championship.  In a two-day tournament held in Hampton, the Lady Eagles played very hard against tough teams from the Atlanta area. 

Appling Christian Academy was definately the “rookie” team at the state tournament.  Many of the Atlanta area schools have had successful volleyball programs for a number of years.  Appling Christian is only in its third year of its volleyball program.  [Full Story »] 

Pirates improve to 9-0 with 19-0 win over Indians

The Appling County Pirates defeated the Vidalia Indians 19-0 on Friday, October 28. With the win the Pirates are now 9-0 overall and 6-0 in Region 2AA. The victory assures the Pirates a home playoff game and a chance at another perfect 10-0 season. The last perfect season was in 1999. The Pirates will travel to Pierce County for the final regular season game on Friday, November 4 to face the Bears who are 7-2, 6-0 with the winner becoming the region champion. This past Friday the Appling Christian Aacademy (ACA) Eagles traveled to Douglasville to face off in the 2011 GCAA State Championship. Their opponents were the Kings Way Crusaders, who the Eagles suffered their one and only loss to this year during the regular season. Going into the championship game the Eagles had four straight losses to their foe.

Pirates defeat Blue Tide 38-8

The Appling County Pirates traveled to Long County to face the Blue Tide (0-8, 0-5) on Friday, October 21 and were able to get the Region 2AA win 38-8. The Pirates improve to 8-0 on the season and 5-0 in region play. The Pirates will host the Vidalia Indians (5-3, 2-3) on Friday, October 28 for Senior Night with the game scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.

Everyone is also encouraged to wear pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness during the game against the Vidalia Indians. [Full Story »]

Former Pirate golfer Ciera Bagley is playing well as a freshman at Columbus State University. Ciera graduated from Appling County High School and played golf for Coach Regina Warren. She advanced to the GHSA State Tournament in 2009 and finished third after winning the region championship. [Full Story »]

The Appling County Pirates traveled to face the Tattnall County Battle Creek Warriors (3-4, 2-2) on Friday, October 14 and were able to get the win, despite terrible officiating, by a score of 32-23. With the win the Pirates are now 7-0 on the season and 4-0 in Region 2AA. The Pirates will try to stay unbeaten as they travel to Long County to face the Blue Tide (0-7, 0-4) on Friday, October 21.
