The Appling County Pirates (18-0 overall, 11-0 Region 2AA) picked up two more wins defeating Jeff Davis (13-6, 8-3) on April 3 by a score of 9-3 and defeating Tattnall County (11-7, 4-7) on April 6 by a score of 10-4.
The Pirates remain atop the Georgia AA Coaches Poll and are scheduled to host the second ranked Pierce County Bears (15-3, 9-2) on Tuesday, April 10 at 6:00 p.m. The Pirates are also set to travel to Long County (5-12, 1-9) on Friday, April 13 at 6:00 p.m. and host Calvary Day (11-6, 7-1 Region 3A-A) at 1:00 p.m. [Full Story »] 

Eagles Win Over Bible Baptist

The ACA Eagles travelled to McDonough on Friday the 6th to face the Bible Baptist Eagles, a regional contender. Andrew Phillips led off the Eagle offense with a triple and the game continued with strong offensive from the Appling team. Rex Cox led the Eagle offense with three hits. Bryant Phillips, Dallas Johnson, Andrew Phillips, each had two apiece. [Full Story »]

After losing their first two games of the young season, the baseball Eagles have come roaring back with four consecutive wins over Barnes Academy of Hartwell, First Presbyterian of Hinesville, Highland of Valdosta and Bible Baptist of Hampton. The Appling County Pirates (13-0 overall, 7-0 Region 2AA) won two games over the past week defeating Wayne County (6-7, 2-3 Region 2A-AAAA) for the second time this season 8-7 in eight innings and defeated McIntosh County Academy (4-9, 1-5) 14-1 in five innings. The Pirates were scheduled to play the Statesboro Blue Devils (6-5, 1-3 Region 2B-AAAA) on Saturday, March 24 in a non-region contest but the game was postponed until Monday, March 26 at 5:30 p.m. [Full Story »]

The Appling County Pirates continued their perfect start winning three more to improve to 9-0 overall and 4-0 in region 2AA play. The Pirates defeated Bacon County (2-5, 1-2 Region 2B-A) 14-0, Tattnall County (5-2, 1-2) 10-0 and Pierce County (7-2, 4-1) 8-4. The Appling County Lady Pirates 2011-2012 season came to an end on Friday, February 24 with a loss in the first round of the State Playoffs to Region 1AA top seed Brooks County (22-6 overall) 55-79. The Lady Pirates were the fourth seed from Region 2AA and end the season with an overall record of 13-18 while ending with a region record of 5-13. [Full Story »]

SHOWN IS SENIOR STANDOUT BYRON BUXTON PITCHING DURING SATURDAY’S GAME AGAINST STATESBORO.

The Appling County Pirate baseball team opened the 2012 season with three wins over Bacon County (1-1 overall), Ware County (0-3) and Statesboro (1-1) over the last week. The Pirates will face the Vidalia Indians in Vidalia (0-4) on Tuesday night, February 28 to begin Region 2AA play with game time scheduled for 5:45 p.m. The Pirates will then play Wayne County (1-1) at home on Thursday, March 1 then end the week on Friday, March 2 at home against region foe Jeff Davis (2-1). Both home games are scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.

The Pirates are coming off a 2011 season that had them finish 22-12 with a berth in the final four of the State playoffs where they lost to eventual State Champion Buford. The Pirates also finished the 2011 season second in Region 2AA with a record of 11-4 behind Jeff Davis who finished 14-2 in region play. [Full Story »]
