Barbara Sue Crane, a Theatre major from Baxley has been named to the fall 2011 Dean’s List at Armstrong Atlantic State University. Appling County Retired Educator’s meeting was called to order by president Patsy Buchannan on Thursday, Nov. 17 at the Appling County Middle School. Dr. Lynn Overstreet, principal, welcomed everyone. Carolyn McCall gave the inspiration. She read the “Thanksgiving Day Prayer”. We then stood for the pledge to the flag led by Roscoe Davis and remained standing to sing with Carolyn Wade, Carol Surrency and Kay Eunice as they led the group in singing “We Gather Together”. Sheriff Benny DeLoach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.

Dec. 10, answered a call to Holt Rentz Road in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated when returning from working out of town he found where someone had gone into his residence and took several of his guns. Investigation continues. [Full Story »]

Board hires Lentile for ESPLOST projects at Altamaha and 4th District

The Appling County Board of Education approved Lentile Construction as the Construction Management firm that will oversee upcoming construction and renovations at Altamaha Elementary and Fourth District Elementary schools. The action was approved during a board meeting held on Dec. 12. Superintendent Scarlett Copeland reported that a committee reviewed three proposals and Lentile’s scored the highest out of the proposals. [Full Story »]
