The Appling County Commissioners arrived at the December 6 monthly meeting to find a packed meeting room. There appeared to be two concerned groups about a potential decision the commissioners would be making during the meeting regarding the 2018 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) referendum, which will be voted on in 2017.
One group expressed concern about the potential closure of the Ernest J. Parker Park Pool. Larry Rayner spoke on behalf of the group and he stated residents in the area did not want to see the pool closed.
