At a council meeting held on May 22, Baxley Mayor Pro Tem Esco Hall, Jr. made a motion to approve a request for a new beer and wine license for Golden Touch One Stop. Council member Betty Livingston seconded the motion. Council members, Kenneth Waithe, Tim Varnadore and Mickey Bass voted against the measure. The request for an application for a license to sell beer and wine did not pass and was denied by a three to two vote for Golden Touch One Stop, owned by Japheth Errol Houghton, located at 828 N. Boulevard. The application was denied.
