Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ellis (Beth) Smith, of Waycross, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Kelley Elizabeth Smith, of Waycross, to Jamie Wayland Ammons, of Baxley, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Simeon (Cathy) Ammons, Jr., of Baxley.
The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Keith (Lorene) Sumner and the late Mr. and Mrs. Dan Martin (Lilya Mae) Smith.
She is a 2007 graduate of Ware County High School, a 2013 graduate of Valdosta State University with a Master’s in Early Childhood Special Education General Curriculum. She is currently seeking her Specialist’s degree in Special Education from Valdosta State. She is currently employed at the Appling County Board of Education as a teacher at Altamaha Elementary School. She is the Vice President of Waycross Service League.
The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Mrs. Carolyn Johnson Eunice and the late Mr. James Ronald Eunice and Ms. Wanda Altman Ammons, and Mr. James Simeon (Kathy) Ammons, Sr.
He is the Valedictorian of the 2006 graduating class of Appling County High School. He attended Georgia College and State University on a baseball scholarship and graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. In 2011, he graduated with a Master’s in the Art of Teaching from GCSU. He is currently employed by the Appling County Board of Education as a teacher at Appling County Middle School where he coaches football for the Middle School and baseball for the High School.
The couple will exchange vows at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, December 17, at First Presbyterian Church in Waycross.
A reception will follow at the Okefenokee Country Club.
