My name is Carolyn Robinson. On March 17, 2016, my daughter passed away. I was not present at the time due to the fact that I lived hours away. According to the information I received at a later date, Ms. Sellers (daughter) was given permission to talk with the coroner, no objections to that. A few hours later I arrived and I’m still in Appling County. I made a call to the coroner in April, and never received a return call, I left my name and two contact numbers. I told him I was the mother. The second call was made in June, I told the EMT that answered who I was and the nature of my call, and then I was connected to his private number. Immediately upon answering he told me he was on the phone with my daughter.
I feel like I should have been contacted by the coroner once he found out I was in the city. Corresponding with my daughter and not me (the mother) of the deceased, has made me feel slighted, overlooked, and disrespected by this elected official. After reaching him on the phone, I was told by him that he would contact me when he gets the final report of the assumed cause of her death. Today is July 31, 2016 and I have not heard from him. I know I am only a visitor here and that should be more of a reason for better service than I got. The question is, if it had been his child would he, or would he not want to be the first to get information or receive it from another child or any other person or family member? I, the mother, had to hear it from the daughter and that was only once during the four months of waiting. I pray no one else will have to walk in the same size shoes I have walked in while in Appling County, especially in this matter.
