Miles-Nobles Funeral Home and Crematory announces the services for Dovard Allen Holton, age 79, who passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Appling HealthCare System. He was a resident of Sumter County most of his life and a graduate of Brewton Parker College. He was an instructor at South Georgia Technical College in Americus retiring after 30 years of service; an avid girls softball coach for many years and a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. He loved gardening and sharing his bountiful crops with all his friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Mary Alice Jarrells Holton; one brother, J.B. Holton; six sisters, twins, Thelmar and Selmer Holton, Lizzie McCall, Lena Turner, Mary Alice Reezes and Myrtle Holton; one niece, Terry Lynn Reezes and one nephew, Robert Reezes.
Survivors include three nieces, Ileene Eunice and husband, Jerald of Bristol, Doris Hutcheson and husband, Winston of Jesup and Hazel Highsmith of Odum; three nephews, Wallace Hilton Reezes and wife, Barbara, Howard Reezes and wife, Carol and Keith Reezes and wife, Melissa, all of Zephyrhills, FL; other family also survive.
Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with the Reverend Rick Brown and the Reverend Darrel Quinn officiating.
Interment followed.
Visitation was held one hour prior to services in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Social Hall.
