The May and June minutes were unanimously approved before a Long-Term Care Report was delivered by Melba Webb, Administrator of the Pavilion. CEO Ray Leadbetter went over the Financial Report. Julie Long delivered the Nursing Report detailing Obama’s new legislation regarding “chronic” vs. “acute” pain, the possibility of a pain management clinic coming to Appling County and announcing three open positions within the Emergency Room Department of Appling Hospital.
Mr. Jimmy Twiggs gave a presentation on the new ambulance funded by the County Commissioners. The 2016 Ford E-450 will not be ready until mid-August, but when it comes into service it will replace the 2009 ambulance, making four ambulances in Appling County’s fleet. A fifth ambulance is expected to join in 2017. The goal of the EMS is to replace one ambulance every two years.
Six medical staff recommendations were unanimously approved. These recommendations included one initial appointment, three reappointments and two provisional statuses. The Board then went into Executive Session before reopening the meeting for a vote to approve the acquisition of two new vans. One will be used as a cargo van while the other will be a non-emergency transport van. After this vote the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be August 22, 2016.
