I got an email recently telling me of suspicious charges on my credit card and, sure enough, I had been hacked again.
It beats me how these people get my credit card number so easily. There was nothing to do but call the card company and report the fraud so I dialed the number and, wouldn’t you know it, I was routed to Bangladesh or somewhere near there. The young lady spoke pretty good English in her introduction but it went downhill pretty fast thereafter. I don’t know about you but I just can’t understand these folks because their accent is, well, foreign. I finally stopped the lady and asked very politely if they had anyone that could speak South Georgian, but of course they didn’t. I hung up and tried again later.
On another note, I had to call Fridgidaire about a part and the call went to someplace in Michigan. I knew right off it was going to be a good day because the young lady spoke perfect Southern and we had the order placed in no time. I asked her where she was from and she replied, “A place you have never heard of. Tifton, Georgia.”
“Oh, really?” I said. “Have you ever heard of Willacoochee?” Of course she had. I felt like I was talking to my sister after that and we had a nice visit. It was so good to hear a South Georgia accent instead of South Pakistan.
And speaking of Pakistan, beware of the IRS scammers with their heavy Middle Eastern accents. They called me and demanded $3,672.00 or be locked up immediately. I knew it was a scam but I played along. I told the scammers, “I don’t have any money right now, but my old lady just had another check baby and the check will be coming soon and if you can just wait until we get that money, then I will pay you some along and along.”
“No,” the scammer literally screamed, he had to have the money today or I go to jail.
I told him to “come on and get me then because I just can’t help you right now.”
Then I told a sob story that ought to be on Oprah because it was gifted to me by the Spirit and when I finished, the scammer was almost in tears and promised to send me a check the next week. That was 6 weeks ago and I still haven’t seen it.
