Baxley-Appling County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Keri Crosby talked to the commissioners regarding the new Appling Leads Program. Crosby reported that approximately two years ago the Georgia Chamber of Commerce started traveling around the state visiting with big business and industry asking how they could help. One area of concern expressed to the Georgia Chamber was that the state of Georgia is lacking in the area of new leadership. The Georgia Chamber and the University of Georgia have now developed a nine-month adult leadership pilot program and Appling County has been selected to be a part of this new program. The program, Appling Leads, exists to engage a diverse team of community members, empowered to commit to Appling County, and educated in leadership practices. The program targets individuals who represent all segments of the community, have demonstrated commitment to Appling County and have a sincere interest in serving the community as a leader. Crosby stated that the Baxley-Appling County Chamber is now accepting applications for the new program and she asked the commissioners to take an application with them to give to someone they believe could be a potential leader in Appling County. Crosby also stated that if anyone would like more information about the new program to contact her at 367-7731.
